How to estimate dirt removal costs

Currently it is covered in trees and needs to be cleared out. I have applied for the relevant permits so that I can start on clearing the land. I plan to subcontract out the work to a local company. I was able to find a resource on excavation estimating which has helped me to establish some guidelines on the likely costs. If this project goes according to plan it will be the first of many that I will attempt in the years to come.
