Worm Farms

August 25th, 2008 | by admin |

Beetles are pretty common. You see them quite often and in many places. worm farms are no exceptions. The important thing to know with beetles though, is that some are friend and some are foe.

The feather-winged beetle is one you might see in your bins. It eats fungal spores. This may be helpful to you. There are larger beetles that you may not find so helpful however. Two such beetles are the rove and the ground beetles. They feed on insects, snails, slugs, small animals, and worms. The rove beetle is especially one to watch out for. Not only are there several different kinds, some are black while others are brown, but they also have quite a bite.

If you see a beetle and aren't sure what it is, you might be safer just to get it out of there. But remember, be careful. Some might take exception to being evicted.
