Steps to a Healthier Florida: Pinellas County

Pinellas County, Florida has a federally funded program to address the obesity concerns in their community. The pinellas county health department is working with the Pinellas County School system to educate and intervene in the areas of diabetes, asthma and obesity.
The program goals are reduce diabetes, obesity, and asthma; increase physical activity; improve nutrition and eating habits; and decrease tobacco use and exposure to both children and adults. The program includes a district-wide salad program; asthma and diabetes education for all grade levels; family obesity education services; and much more.
