Errors in Credit Bureau Addresses

The credit bureau addresses would have to correct errors within 30 days, and banks and other businesses that report information to the credit bureaus would, for the first time, face fines for passing along bad information. There are no such penalties now for transmitting inaccurate data. The major credit bureaus already comply with many provisions of the law. Nonetheless, when you're in the midst of buying a house or car, there's nothing quite like finding a hand grenade in your credit report - a mistaken entry on a bill you don't owe, for example, or even worse, information about someone else that has somehow crept into your report and poisoned it.
