Parts of a wireless network

December 17th, 2008 | by admin |

A wireless network is essentially an Internet connection that flies through the air and connects to your computer through a Wireless Router and a wireless network adapter card. It works pretty much like a walkie talkie or a cell phone. The range of a wireless network is pretty broad in fact if you don’t secure your network with a WAP key (security key) your neighbors as far as three houses down may be able to jack into your Internet connection sucking down your bandwidth! With the card always comes a configuration for WAP and this protects your connection with an encryption key.
