MT: transcribed material.

December 3rd, 2007 | by admin |

Medical transcriptionists (otherwise known as MT’s, or sometimes Med Trans) listen to verbally dictated recordings (on mediums such as cassette, micro-cassette, or digital equipment) made by physicians, doctors and other health care professionals, and transcribe the spoken words into written form for medical reports, correspondence, insurance claims, and other administrative materials.

And medical transcription – after material has been transcribed to a written format — is still the primary device for participating physicians to clearly communicate with other healthcare professionals who need access to a patient’s medical records; to advise them on the patient's current health problems and all past or current treatments; and to assure continuous, non-duplicated care progress.
