Safety and forklift exhaust

December 31st, 2007 | by admin |

Other than use of electric forklifts, fitting of catalytic converters on LPG powered forklifts is the preferred method for avoiding excessive exposure to carbon monoxide from the forklift engines(1) Personal monitoring. This involves test equipment on a sample of workers. This equipment is available from Drager Aust P/L, M.S.A Aust P/L and Air-Met Scientific. The higher the risk, the greater the number of workers whoshould be tested.(2) Area monitoring. This assesses carbon monoxide levels around workers. It canbe done with a fixed installation (inhouse or hired equipment) or by consultants.Find out about area monitoring from any Division of Workplace Health andSafety office.
