Better Rate of Hypermiling

August 20th, 2008 | by admin |

Earlier in 2008, the EPA ruled that PDVSA, like all domestic refiners, could comply with the Clean Air Act by showing its fuels were 15 percent cleaner than the fuels it produced in 2002.The rule was designed to allow refineries some latitude to adjust their manufacturing processes before all fuels must comply with the same standard and can give better hypermiling driving in 2008.Some Congressional representatives, including Rep. Marjorie Margolies- Mezvinsky (D., Pa.), said the rule would allow the Venezuelans to import "dirty" gasoline. She helped rally support to kill the EPA rule last month. The Venezuelans argue that their gasoline is not much different from fuels produced at dozens of other U.S. refineries. They have sued, arguing that imported fuel is not being treated equally under the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade.
